ROOTED IN SISTERS, OREGON

Sisters Coffee Company began in 1989 in the mountain town of Sisters, Oregon. Founders Winfield and Joy started roasting in a modest wood cabin with a five-pound roaster. At the time, specialty coffee was still taking shape across the region, and Sisters Coffee became the first specialty roaster in Central Oregon.

Within six months, demand led the family to upgrade to a larger roaster. For roughly its first 20 years, the company grew primarily through wholesale partnerships, as the original cabin offered only about 250 square feet of retail space.

That humble beginning helped shape the company’s character. Rather than chasing trends, Sisters Coffee focused on carefully roasted coffee, welcoming hospitality, meaningful relationships, and a genuine connection to place.

A FAMILY BUSINESS, GENERATIONS IN THE MAKING

Today, Sisters Coffee serves guests through three cafés and roasts more than 500,000 pounds of coffee each year. It remains a family business, now led by Winfield and Joy’s children, Justin, Jared, and Jesse.

Despite that growth, the company still carries the spirit of its original cabin. Its mission centers on authentic coffee experiences, a love of the craft, and treating people with warmth and kindness. It is a distinctly Pacific Northwest approach: thoughtful, unpretentious, and grounded in community.

THE BLEND THAT STARTED IT ALL

Sisters Blend is named for the town where the company began and the 286,000-acre wilderness surrounding it. It is the coffee that helped establish the roaster’s identity and remains an expression of the landscape that inspired it.

The blend brings together coffees from Latin America and East Africa in an effortlessly balanced medium roast. In the cup, you can expect notes of brown sugar, toasted walnut, and cinnamon. The body is velvety, while the acidity remains mild and approachable.

Those characteristics make Sisters Blend especially versatile. It has enough sweetness and structure to enjoy black, but it also pairs comfortably with milk or cream. It works equally well as a first cup at home or the reward waiting at camp after an early start.

Brown sugar brings mellow sweetness, toasted walnut adds warmth, and cinnamon gives the finish a subtle lift. The result is smooth enough for every morning while remaining interesting cup after cup.
