A few common questions about customizing VSSL gear.
The Basics
- What is VSSL Customization? We laser-engrave your text, monogram, artwork or logo directly into eligible VSSL gear. It’s a permanent mark etched into the material, not printed on top of it.
- Which products can I engrave? Rift Tumblers in 10 oz, 16 oz and 20 oz, The Nest Pour-Over Set and the Java G25 and G45 grinders. If you see the Customize button, it’s engravable. Some colors may be excluded.
- How do I customize a VSSL Product Pick you product then click “Customize” select your color and add your design from the gallery or upload your own photo/artwork/text/monogram, then review, approve, and checkout.
- How much does it cost? $12 USD / $14 CAD per item.
- How long does it take? 5–7 days to process your personalization project, then standard shipping times with
ground service on top of order processing. - Our Decorated Products under Warranty? Your custom products are covered by the VSSL warranty. If your warranty claim is approved we will provide you with a replacement product but it will not be customized.
What Can You Engrave?
- Can you engrave my own logo? Yes, on a single item. Upload a vector file of your logo in the following format .SVG, .AI, .EPS, .PDF. Note your logo will be engraved exactly as uploaded, so make sure anything you don't want included is removed. This includes color blocked backgrounds, so make sure your background is transparent. For bulk projects fill out our contact form and we will reach out to scope out a plan.
- What kind of artwork engraves well? Simple line art, solid shapes, and logos with strong contrast. Photographs, QR codes, gradients, hairlines and very fine detail may not reflect the same line definition as your art.
- Will you redraw or fix my artwork? No. We’ll do our best with the file you send, but we don’t create logos or edit uploaded artwork. Your logo will be engraved exactly as it is submitted to us.
- How big can it be? It varies by piece, from about 2” × 0.75” on the 10 oz Rift up to 3” × 3” on the Nest Pour-Over Set. The customizer shows you the exact area for whatever you’ve picked. Nothing engraves smaller than half an inch square.
- Can I engrave in a colour? No. Engraving is the natural mark of the laser on the material underneath the powder coat. Stay tuned as color may show up in the future!
- Will it look exactly like the preview? Close, but the preview is a guide rather than a photograph. Engraving depth and contrast vary a little with finish and colour.
Ordering and Delivery
- Can I change my engraving after I order? No. Once you approve your design and place your order, it goes into production. Check it twice as once submitted the order is final and cannot be cancelled.
- Can I cancel? No. Once your custom order is submitted, it is final and queued for immediate production. We cannot cancel or modify your customization order after it has been submitted
- Can I return or exchange it? Engraved items are final sale. They can’t be returned or exchanged.
- What if it arrives damaged or engraved wrong? If we made the mistake, we’ll make it right. Email support@vsslgear.com within 5 business days of delivery with a photo, we will make it right through a re-run or refund.
- Where do you ship engraved items? We have decorator partners in the US and Canada who support their local regions. At this time, we do not offer this program outside of these countries.
- Can you help me with a large customized order for my brand or business? Yes! We would be happy to help scope
out a project with VSSL products for whatever your business needs. Complete our for-business form to tell us more about who you are and what you envision, and a VSSL representative will reach out to dial in the plan.
Care and Durability
- Is it dishwasher safe? Yes. Engraving is cut into the material, so it goes in the dishwasher like any other VSSL piece.
Content and Rights
- What won’t you engrave? VSSL reserves the right to cancel any order that we deem unlawful, hateful, obscene, threatening or defamatory. Anything advocating persecution on the basis of gender, age, race, religion, disability or national origin. Political and religious content and any artwork or text you don’t have the rights to use.
