Paddleboard Legend Norm Hann Field Tests VSSL First Aid Mini

A field review just in time for Father’s Day

It's an everyday-carry kit for Canadian paddleboard legend—and dad—Norm Hann

“The First Aid Mini has been in my guide pack every day. I’ve encountered plenty of first aid situations in all my years on a paddleboard and in the wilderness, so I really appreciate the thought that went into First Aid Mini’s supplies and organization.”

I really love the functionality and portability of the VSSL First Aid Mini. I am down in Belize running standup paddleboarding trips, and the First Aid Mini has been in my guide pack every day. The multi-purpose adventure tape has far exceeded my expectations. How many times have you had to interrupt a day on the water because your tape has fallen off and has to be re-applied? One woman on our trip had a blister from paddling, so I wrapped this tape around her finger to cover a band aid she had on. At the end of the day, I asked her how it held up. It stayed on through a full day of paddling, snorkeling, sweat, sunscreen, and the humid conditions in Belize. I was amazed!

First Aid Mini had so many other uses. Another of my clients had a deep cut to his hand when he fell off his board and brushed up against a coral head. Again, adventure tape came to the rescue! I was able to quickly and easily access bandages from First Aid Mini’s Supply Tins and apply them to the cut. The tape held everything together, and we kept on paddling. The container is durable and water proof. I’ve encountered plenty of first aid situations in all my years on a paddleboard and in the wilderness, so I really appreciate the thought that went into First Aid Mini’s supplies and organization. Well done, guys. So far, I am really impressed!

About Norm Hann:
Based in British Columbia, Norm is a husband, father, and a legend in stand-up paddleboarding. Working as a guide, he cut his teeth in wilderness exploration venturing deep into the rainforest and marine ecosystems on the North Coast of B.C. In 2008, he started Norm Hann Expeditions.

He starred in a 2012 documentary, “Stand,” in which he paddled 350 kilometers to examine the threat a proposed oil tanker route posed to indigenous communities and pristine ecosystems along the North Coast. He often brings his son, Kiel, with him on trips, so he definitely understands the importance of first aid preparedness.

We are so stoked to have him review First Aid Mini.
